Scotland's favourite travelling Blues Dance event is back! And this time its heading North! Inverness' Highland Swing are super-excited to host this 6th outing of Scotland Invades.

What is Scotland Invades? - A series of events aiming to foster connections within and celebrate Scotland's Blues dance scene. At each event Scotland's Blues Dance community invade (in a friendly way) a host city for a weekend of dance revelry. We aim to make this event as affordable and accessible as possible.

Where is Inverness? - Up North. But its not as far as you think. There are roads, and public transport and electricity. We promise.

What is Blues Dancing? - Blues dancing is a family of historic African-American dances that developed alongside Blues music. It is a partner dance with strong emphasis on improvisation, rhythm and poly-rhythms and solo movement.

Who is this event aimed at? - Everyone. Whether you've never danced blues before or are a blues addict we would love to see you there. There will be beginner friendly classes during the weekend, so this is the perfect opportunity to give it a go.

Schedule:

Classes - Five hours of beginner -friendly Blues Dance classes, taught by some of Glasgow's finest Ewa and Malcolm. Ewa and Malcolm regularly teach Blues dancing in Glasgow. In their classes they like to emphasise strong fundamentals, switching lead and following and fun! Classes will be taught 'switch' allowing you to learn both the lead and follow role in the same lesson, and therefore dance with everyone!

Parties - Get your dance shoes ready and your party pants on cos we are going to PAR-TAY! On Friday night we'll have a welcome party to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. On Saturday we'll have some more bluesy goodness and live music, and then will be taking the fun into the wee small hours with a fusion afterparty. On Sunday we'll be seeing the weekend out in style with a cake-fuelled tea dance.

Plus other Invernessian activities in store - including dancing on the shores of Loch Ness!
